viva la France day 6!

okay today we went to a chateau. that means castle in french. it was high up on top of a mountain and we could see it from the valley almost a km away! when we got there we learned about the history of chastle haut koegnisbourg. it has switched from being owned by germany to france many times because of war and inability to restore adn pay for it. we then took a tour of the castle. it was very cold becaus eof the altitude. it was freezing! then we left the chateau and went to a village. at this village charles p murray the person our school is named after, faought and served in WWII and single handedly drove some nazis out of the town. then we left after meeting the mayor's staff because the mayor could not make it. we went back to strasbourg and were filmed and we got on the news and the paper i think. well i had crepes for dinner au rveior!

viva la france day 5!

today we played sports! i played volleyball while the others rock climbed. i was on a team with sam clara and antione. i stink at sports. i accidently hit a girl in the head with the volleyball on accident. everytime i tried to serve the ball it never went over and one time when it actually went over the net it hit the top and we got a point i think haha. and antione was like "Good Job! yayy!" haha. adn then i think i made my team lose all the games. :( and that is why i don't play sports. sports don't help the uncoordinated!!!!!!!!!!! after sports we went shopping with camille and her friends. camille had to leave for studying so hanna cotton, molly, madison, and i stayed with Elene and shopped. i bought pants, clothes, and a scarf. then we went back to st. ettienne and waited for camille to finish her exam. then we walked a little bit. we went to a cafe and camille and her friend justine got waffle things adn madson got a hot chocolate. i had some of madison's hot chocolate. then we went back to the school to see camille's friends and madison and i went to find dorothy in the cafeteria and we hung out with her, hanna cotton, aryn, and her host student Maret. we waited with dorothy because aurielle wasn't done wiht her exam yet. then we left and went home and had keish for dinner.

viva la France day 4!

okay so today we went to a museum about deportation. deportation is when you remove someone from your country or area because you don't want them there. we learned about the effects of the world wars on germany and mostly france. the nazis didnt like the jews and deported some people just because they were criminals or even stupid reasons like because they wore glasses! then we rode on the bus up a tall tall tall tall tall mountain to a concentration camp. on the way up there there was a beautiful view of the valley! at the camp there was a place in the memorial building where we ate lunch. then we went to the concentration camp. we saw teh buildings where they tortured people. also the place where people worked and people were hung. then we wetn in a museum by the concentration camp adn saw a huge building that was built by laborers and slaves. they dont know why the building was built though. we saw many pictures of the time when concentration camps were used by Nazis. the prisoners would suffer concequences of isolation and beatings or even death for not doing as told and following the rules. after we left we went back to st. ettienne and the school gave us a reception and t shirtswe gave them their flag for a present. then camille took me and madison home for dinner. i tried fondue and we had fruit salad for dinner. au revior!

viva la France day 3!

okay so today i rode to school on the tram and then we got a tour of St. Ettienne and then we had refreshments and Flore gave me a peice of candy that tasted like coke and it was really good. Then we got welcome bags with backpacks and pens and pencils and paper adn a lot of other stuff. adn there was a hand warmer thing that is really cool! then we left the school and went on a boat tour of strasbourg. we learned about the history adn Alsace which is the old part of Strasbourg. Strasbourg used to be a war town-ish type place and then after the boat tour we went back to the school for lunch and i had pasta and bread and water adn a few bites of banana yogurt. then we went adn toured the cathedral. we learned about how they constantly have to restore it and how bombs destoyed part of the cathedral during the 2nd and 1st world wars. Then we walked to petit France the older part of Strasbourg. Then we went back to the school and afterwards Camille took me and Madison shopping. i bought a coat and some thigns for my friends and my step mom. okay well i'm going to bed! au revior!

viva la FRANCE day 2!

okay so this is day 2. this morning i woke up and got dressed and ate some yummy breakfast pastry with chocolate in it and then Mrs. Lambor took Madison and I to a museum and there was a part where you wear a hard hat and walk in a tunnel and it is completely dark and you stick your arms out in front of you and at one part there was a water fountain and you stuck your hand in there when you were searching for a wall or the exit and you got wet.(: than madison fell and i fell on top of her. after that her hat fell off and theni felt the walls and found an exit. then i went back in the exit a few feet and found madison and Mrs. Lambor. then we left adn rode the tram to a restaurant called the hippopotamus or what madison called the "hip hop anonymous." and then after that we went to the ice rink. we met a bunch of people there. we had sooo much fun. and then we came home to Camille's house and had dinner. we had vegetable soup with sausage and bread and for dessert we had mini cakes with fruit and whipped cream on them! the were sooooo good! they were delicious! well I am going to sleep now so au revior!!!!!

Hanna has left the Country!

Okay so I'm in France now and the time change is annoying! wwe got on the flight to charlotte from wilm. and had a 45min delay bcuz of the weather and then we got on the plane 2 frankfurt germany and i was all by myself until the flight attendent came and brought me back to everybody else. Then once we got to Frankfurt we got on a bus to Strasbourg. 3 hrs later we were in Strasbourg and Madison and I were waiting for Camille to come get us and then once she got us we went to her house. then me and madison took showers and then we walked to the park which is 5 minutes away from Camille's house. Then we walked into the zoo which is in the park adn then we walked on through the park and found other people we knew. we walked them through the zoo then we came back to Camille's and we had dinner with her mom's friends. now i'm going to sleep. jetlag stinks:(
